The Dayton Region has a significant compilation of resources in Healthcare, Human Sciences and Aeromedical Research. The Air Force's first Aero Medical Laboratory was founded at what is now Wright-Patterson Air Force base and the tradition continues as all aeromedical research, training, and acquisition elements are to be consolidated into a Center of Excellence for Human Performance at Wright-Patt. Couple this new Center of Excellence with the 21 existing regional hospitals, medical schools, training facilities and human science-focused businesses and you can see the a significant and growing economic impact that the Human Sciences and Health Care industry has in the Dayton Region.

- Over 8,500 highly skilled workers in the Human Sciences field throughout the region
- The United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, which is locating to Wright-Patt, trains more than 6,000 students annually
- Strong and growing capability in training and research focused on medical readiness for first providers
- Wright State has the longest running civilian training program for doctors specializing in medicine related to air and space travel. Since 1978, Wright State's Aerospace Medicine Program has provided NASA with a steady supply of flight surgeons and also has trained the medical leadership for start-up space programs in a dozen other nations.
